January has been a busy month for Chevrolet WTCC drivers Yvan Muller, Rob Huff and Alain Menu.
Yvan attended the Vienna Autoshow at the Chevrolet stand and saw again his WTCC winning Cruze from 2010 that was on display, complete with roof dent from the Macau post race celebrations when he won his first title for Chevrolet. He also posed for pictures with members of the Austrian National American Football team. "I'm now focusing on the new season and working on my fitness level. Although I feel more comfortable in my racing cockpit than I would training with these guys!" Muller joked. Chevrolet is sponsor of both the team and the Austrian Bowl, a local version of the SuperBowl. The event was also used to promote the first Austrian WTCC rounds which take place at Salzburgring on May 20.
Rob travelled to Israel for the launch of the Chevrolet Turbo where he took park in a press conference and a gymkhana course to demonstrate and challenge the journalists. He then travelled back to the UK and attended the Autosport International show at Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre for interviews and autograph signing.
Alain has been to Valencia, Spain for a two day test and was happy to be back behind the wheel. "I haven't been driving a race car since Macau and it is definitely very nice to be behind the wheel again! We were lucky to enjoy very good weather in Valencia and this allowed us to take the maximum out of these two days. We achieved quite some mileage and performed the entire program foreseen. Basically, we tested a number of small evolutions, related to both the chassis and the engine, and everything went well."
RML Project Manager Ron Hartvelt added: "The data collected in Spain will be very helpful in our work towards signing off the 2012 specs of the Cruze."
The Chevrolet team will be again at Valencia early February, with two cars for Yvan Muller and Rob Huff.
